Heroes` weekend is coming up....combined with school holidays..so a few
of you will certainly be going away, right?! For those of you staying behind
in town, Richard will be leading the Lake Chivero Bird Sanctuary bird
walk this Sunday and I can guarantee that if you stick close behind him
- are attentive and quiet - you WILL see some very good birds! Enjoy!
Sunday 8 August 7.00 a.m : Lake Chivero Bird Sanctuary
Last month some really good birds were reported eg. Little Bittern, White-backed
Vulture, African Rail, Red-chested Flufftail, Bennett`s Woodpecker. Come
& see them and others for yourself! Meet at Marimba Shopping Centre,
Samora Machel Avenue West.
Other business:
I hope in the end you were all able to open and read the latest issue
of The Babbler. Unfortunately, there have been errors. Here are the ones
spotted so far - please correct them in your copy.
In the calender of events of forthcoming activities for the Mashonaland
branch:
-The visit to Greystone Park Nature Preserve is on Saturday 18 September
not the 26th.
-The next two visits to Lake Chivero Bird Sanctuary are this Sunday 8
August and then next month on 12 September (not 12 August!)
In the Controls table (accompanying the Seldom Seen ringing outing article)
of birds retrapped on 19-20 June that were originally ringed at Seldom
Seen, the last bird listed should be a Yellow-streaked Greenbul....(not
a Sunbird!)
What must I say? I`m sorry! Any volunteers to help me proof read the next
issue as I`m clearly blind?!
Take care & Happy birding!
Julia
